National Assembly Passes Apostille Act 2024

Pakistan’s National Assembly has approved the Apostille Act 2024, a law that makes using Pakistani documents abroad much easier.

What Is the Apostille Act?

Previously, people had to go through long embassy attestation procedures to use documents overseas.

The new law introduces an Apostille certificate — a single official certification that verifies documents internationally.

👉 One stamp replaces multiple embassy verifications.

What Problems Does This Solve?

Before:

  • Multiple attestations

  • Embassy visits

  • Long waiting times

  • Expensive process

Now:
✅ One Apostille certificate
✅ Faster verification
✅ Less paperwork
✅ No need to visit embassies repeatedly

Who Will Benefit Most?

  • Students going abroad

  • Job seekers & professionals

  • Overseas Pakistanis

  • Businesses working internationally

Educational degrees, birth certificates, legal papers, and other public documents can now be recognized more easily abroad.

How Will It Work?

  • Government will appoint a competent authority (like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to issue Apostille certificates.

  • The certificate confirms the authenticity of the document, not its content.

  • Documents against national interest or law will not be recognized.

Why This Law Matters

According to the bill’s objectives, the Act simplifies document authentication by replacing the traditional legalization process with a single internationally accepted formality, reducing embassy visits for overseas Pakistanis.

 Short Summary

Pakistan has passed the Apostille Act 2024 to simplify international document verification.
Now one Apostille certificate will replace lengthy embassy attestation procedures.
The law will help students, professionals, and overseas Pakistanis use documents abroad more easily.
