AJK LG elections, PTI leading with 38 seats, inconclusive unofficial results

MUZAFFARABAD: After 31 years in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the results of Local Government (LG) elections are continuing. According to the results so far, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in first place, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is in second place and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is in third place.

According to the so far inconclusive unofficial results of Local Government (LG) elections in three districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), PTI is leading with 38 seats. PML-N 18, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) 11 and 07 independent candidates have been declared successful.

A fierce fight broke out between two groups in Garhi Gupta Nowshera. In provocation, each other's houses were set on fire. Due to this the Quick Response Force and personnel reached the spot.

In 3 districts of Muzaffarabad Division, Neelum, Jhelum Valley and Muzaffarabad, the turnout was 60 %. People came out of their homes to cast their votes despite the bitter cold. A large number of women exercised their right to vote.

In 3 districts of Muzaffarabad Division, Neelum, Jhelum Valley and Muzaffarabad, 2 thousand 725 hopefuls contested for 614 municipal seats, 575 of PTI, 465 of PML-N, 545 of PPP, 113 of Muslim Conference, 67 of TLP and 46 candidates of Jamaat-e-Islami are in the fray. While 900 independent candidates participated in the elections.
