Ch Shujaat to remain as PMLQ President, declares ECP

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared that Chaudhry Shujaat would remain as President of Pakistan Muslim League-Q.

The ECP has reserved its verdict on August 18 last year over the issue of removing Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain from the party’s top office and the intra-party election.

Chaudhry Shujaat has challenged his removal from the post of Party’s head, while Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s counsel sought rejection of the petition of Chaudhry Shujaat arguing that “the intra-party election is an internal matter of the party, the election commission prevented us from the party election and we complied the order”.

In its verdict issued today, the ECP also declared schedule of intra-party elections, released by the Central Working Committee of PML-Q, as illegal.
