Coronavirus: Pakistan reports first case of Omicron variant

Karachi has confirmed its first Omicron case on Thursday, taking the number of confirmed cases of this new variant of Covid in Pakistan to one.

According to the Sindh Health Department, Omicron has been confirmed in a woman in a private hospital in Karachi. It should be noted that 1.288 million people were infected with coronavirus in Pakistan while 28,803 civilians have died so far due to the virus.

According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 350 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours across the country, while 10 more civilians have lost their lives to the virus.

During the last 24 hours, 46,697 tests were performed to diagnose coronavirus, bringing the total number of tests to 2,23,85,347. Across the country, the virus test result was positive at 0.74 percent while the condition of 771 patients is critical.

During the last 24 hours, 2,355 people defeated coronavirus across the country, bringing the total number of healthy people to 1,249,421. Mortality remains at 2.2 percent.
