ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government will take important steps to buy oil from Russia in few months.

While addressing the Muslim League workers in Dubai, Ishaq Dar said that he had a meeting with the officials of the US Department of State during a visit to US last month. “I have told US authorities that they cannot stop us from buying oil from Russia because our neighboring country is also buying oil from Russia. It was decided in the meeting that we can buy oil from Russia.”

Ishaq Dar said that US officials told they are starting to build a G7 platform. The G7 platform will set a rate above which no one will buy oil from Russia. “We said put a cap, we will start with free and say give us free oil. We will try that what Russia's terms with India the same should be done with us.”

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar further said that during the prime minister's visit to Saudi Arabia, there were meetings with the Saudi officials. The overall result of the meeting is that they will set up a refinery in Gwadar in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will invest 11 to 12 billion dollars.
