ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday rejected the petitions seeking the disqualification of former president Asif Zardari and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary.

As per details, Chief Justice Athar Minallah issued a detailed decision of the case. The detailed judgment said that the Parliament can create its own mechanism of self-accountability of the representatives. Fawad Chaudhry and Asif Ali Zardari are not convicted by any court. Disqualification of both the public representatives has been sought on disputed facts. An investigation is required to determine the disputed facts. Political opponents of both representatives will benefit during the investigation.

It has been further stated in the judgment that even if both are declared eligible after the investigation, they will not be compensated for the damage caused to them. The people's trust in the elected representatives decreases when the courts get involved in such investigations. The time of ordinary citizens is also wasted due to the involvement of the courts in these matters. Disqualification under Article 62 (1)(f) has profound implications.
