9 News HD: Jaguar has unveiled its new Type 01 electric car, marking a major step in the luxury carmaker’s move toward an all-electric future. The new model was revealed in New York and brings a completely fresh design for the Jaguar brand.

The Jaguar Type 01 is a luxury four-door electric GT with a low roof, long bonnet and a smooth body shape. It also comes with large 23-inch wheels and a new front design. Jaguar says the car is its most powerful road car so far, with up to 1,030PS and 1,365Nm of torque.

The electric car uses a 118kWh battery and an 850-volt electrical system. Jaguar says the Type 01 can offer up to 400 miles of range. It can also accelerate from 0 to 62mph in around 3.2 seconds, making it one of the most powerful models in the company’s history.

The cabin also gets a modern look, with a large 24-inch OLED display and a separate seven-inch touchscreen. The car has been designed and built in the UK, while production is planned to begin in 2027.

The Type 01 starts at around $130,500, with orders expected to open in early 2027. Jaguar is using the new electric car to introduce a fresh design and a new direction for its luxury vehicle range.
