Latest news: The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 6,505 on Thursday after new infections were confirmed in the country.

The province-wise break up of the total number of cases as of April 16, is as follows:

Total confirmed cases: 6,505

• Sindh: 1,668

• Punjab: 3,217

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 912

• Balochistan: 280

• Islamabad Capital Territory: 145

• Gilgit-Baltistan: 237

• AJK: 46

Deaths: 124

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 42

• Sindh: 41

• Balochistan: 3

• Gilgit-Baltistan: 3

• Punjab: 34

• Islamabad Capital Territory: 1

Officials have recorded more than 2 million cases and as many as 126,000 deaths since the virus emerged in China in December.
