‘Maybe Babar?’: Steyn opines on best all-format batter

Legendary South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has heaped praise on Pakistan captain Babar Azam, during a Q&A session on his official Twitter account.

Steyn was asked about who is the best batter across all formats currently by a Twitter user.

Responding to the question, Steyn said “Maybe Babar? He’s pretty darn good”.

Steyn is widely considered to be one of the greatest bowlers of all time. In his 17-year-long career, the right-armer played 93 Tests, 125 ODIs, and 47 T20Is where he bagged 439, 196, and 64 wickets, respectively, for the Proteas.

Meanwhile, Azam is the only batter in the top five of the ICC Batting Rankings in all three formats. He is ranked number one in ODIs and T20Is, whereas he is placed on fifth spot in Test cricket.

The prolific right-hander, Azam, was also named the International Cricket Council (ICC) Player of the Month for March, recently.
