KARACHI: The central leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided not to support the government in approving the mini-budget in case of imposing new taxes on the people.

According to details, the government and the coalition party MQM-P could not hold a consultation for the approval of the mini-budget.

MQM leaders said that they will support the taxation. The United Leaders accused the government of not consulting us before the mini-budget, on which the MQM has reservations.

According to United Leaders, the people are already worried about rising inflation and unemployment. If the government imposes a new tax on the people in the mini-budget, then the MQM-P members will not support the government.

It may be recalled that even before the unveiling of the mini-budget by the government in the National Assembly, the opposition had initiated contacts with the allies of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), with the aim of blocking the approval of the mini-budget.

Yesterday after the government announced the mini-budget, the opposition started approaching the PTI government’s allies, but sources said that the allied parties have not yet assured the opposition of their support.
