ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is expected to increase the power tariff by Rs0.20 per unit on account of monthly fuel adjustment (MFA).

The power regulator held a public hearing to consider the monthly fuel adjustment (MFA) on a petition filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guarantee.

The CPPA in its plea said that in November 29 percent of hydel power was generated.

Power generated from coal was 12 percent, while 27.94 percent of electricity was generated from nuclear fuel, according to the CPPA plea.

Meanwhile, power generated from gas was 14.21 percent, while electricity generated in November from RLNG was 12.09 percent, according to the CPPA plea.

The power tariff will decrease by Rs 7.4 per unit for one month.

Furthermore, the federal government has also filed a petition to increase the power tariff by Rs 3.21 per unit for K-electric consumers.

Earlier, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a reduction in the power tariff by Rs0.32 per unit on account of monthly fuel adjustment (MFA) for the month of December.

Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) requested NEPRA for an increase of Rs0.25 per unit upon which NEPRA has issued a notification, announcing a Rs0.32 cut down in electricity prices in terms of monthly fuel adjustments, the price reduction will be applicable for the month of December only.
