Opposition announces to boycott NSC's in-camera session

Islamabad: The joint opposition on Thursday have announced to boycott the in-camera session of the parliamentary National Security Committee to discuss the security situation in the region.

Opposition parties have issued a joint statement regarding the decision to boycott the session. The statement read that it had not only participated in the important sessions and briefings on national issues but also presented its suggestions. The government is using the Parliament as a rubber stamp which is unacceptable.

The joint opposition took a stance that the decision was taken over the government’s intention of bulldozing the key bills during the in-camera briefing.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser had summoned the NSC session on December 6 in which all the parliamentary leaders including Leader of Opposition in NA Shehbaz Sharif, were invited.

During the meeting, National Security Adviser (NSA) Moeed Yousuf will brief the parliamentarians on the security situation of the region as well as the country.
