Pakistan may attend SCO meet of NSA in Delhi virtually

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is expected to attend the NSA meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which is taking place in India on Wednesday (today).The meeting is set to take place virtually, with Ajit Doval, the Indian National Security Adviser, making the opening remarks.

The current chair of the SCO, India, will be hosting top officials and NSA representatives from member nations, including Pakistan and China. The SCO has emerged as a vital regional platform for cooperation in various sectors, including security, trade, and connectivity.

The SCO-NSA meeting is an opportunity for member nations to discuss and deliberate on issues of mutual concern, including regional security, counter-terrorism, and enhancing economic ties. The participation of Pakistan and China in the meeting assumes significant importance, given the current geopolitical scenario.

The SCO has emerged as an essential regional platform for promoting peace, stability and cooperation among member states. The NSA meeting is expected to reinforce the SCO’s commitment to these values, while also serving as a forum for discussions on enhancing regional cooperation and addressing common challenges.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization established in 2001 and it comprises eight member states, namely, India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

In 2022, India assumed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Chairship for 2023.
