Special representative for Interfaith Harmony Maulana Tahir Ashrafi on Tuesday stated that in order to show solidarity with Palestine, Pakistan will observe Palestine Day on May 14.

In a presser, Ashrafi, the chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, stated that the Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been asked by Prime Minister Imran Khan to follow up with other countries with respect to the grave situation in Jerusalem.

He probed about why the world is silent on this pressing issue. He further added that issues regarding both Palestine and Kashmir had been discussed during PM Imran Khan's visit to Saudi Arabia.

The violence against Palestinians has been profoundly condemned by Pakistan.

On the holy night of Laylatul Qadr, friday,  the worshippers came under a brutal attack by Israeli forces inside Al-Aqsa Mosque. Since the incident, the violent has been increasing at a dangerous rate. At least 26 Palestinians has been killed, including nine children, leaving hundreds vulnerably injured.

"Storming 1st Qibla of Islam Masjid Al Aqsa, killing children and forcing evictions — absolutely unacceptable," stated the Minister.
