Meesha Shafi became the talk of the town after she had accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment during the 2018 MeToo movement.

The #MeToo movement in 2018 had taken the entire world by storm and many women came forward sharing their ordeals. From filmmakers to actors, singers, many men were accused in this movement, there was always a debate about the authenticity of the accusations.

Interestingly, this much-talked-about movement is once again making the headlines as Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi has lost the sexual misconduct case against Ali Zafar following which she has been given three years jail term.

According to media reports, Meesha had accused Ali Zafar of sexual misconduct at a recording studio ahead of a concert in Pakistan where two had to perform together. While the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan actor has stringently dismissed her allegations, he had also a criminal defamation charge against her. And now as per a recent update in Daily Mail, Meesha will face three years of jail for 'criminal defamation' over damage to the actor’s reputation.

This isn’t all. Eight other people who had accused Ali online have also been charged for the same. Meanwhile, Meesha has called the legal system rigid and stated, “Which woman has got justice in a case of this nature and at what cost?”

For the uninitiated, Meesha had made the allegations against Ali in a tweet including her statement. A part of her statement read, “I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar.

These incidences did not happen when I was young, or just entering the industry. This happened to me even though I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”
