Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday urged the international community to ‘act now’ as anti-Muslim violence in India’s New Delhi flared up.
The premier, in a series of tweets, said the Nazi-inspired ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has taken over a nuclear-armed state of more than a billion people.
Reiterating that he had predicted the series of events in India during his appearance at the United Nations General Assembly session, the prime minister said the violence will “get worse” against minorities in India.
“IOJK was the beginning. Now 200 million Muslims in India are being targeted. The world community must act now.”
At the same time, the prime minister issued a warning and said minorities were equal citizens in Pakistan and vowed strict action against those who target the countries minority community.
“I want to warn our people that anyone in Pakistan targeting our non-Muslim citizens or their places of worship will be dealt with strictly,” he wrote.

At least 20 people have been killed and more than 200 injured in New Delhi during clashes between Hindutva mobs and anti-CAA protesters.
India has been witnessing internal turmoil since late last year over anti-Muslim legislation passed by right-wing BJP.
Through the Citizens Amendment Act 2019, the Indian government aims to fast-track citizenship for non-Muslims who arrived in India before December 31, 2014, from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
The Modi-led government also plans to implement the National Register for Citizens nationwide – which would provide legal cover to expel Muslims who do not have sufficient citizenship documentation.
Brewing since December 2019, the unrest erupted in New Delhi over the weekend but turned deadly on Monday with Reuters reporting at least 19 deaths and hundreds with bullet wounds and head injuries in hospitals across New Delhi.
The new citizenship law has raised worries abroad – including in Washington – that Modi wants to remold secular India into a Hindu nation while marginalizing the country’s 200 million Muslims, a claim he denies.
