PM inaugurates infectious diseases hospital in Islamabad

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has inaugurated the infectious diseases hospital in Islamabad today.

According to details, PM has inaugurated a 250 bed state of the art facility which has been constructed in Islamabad in record forty days.

Also present on occasion were Chief of the Army staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa along with other civil military leadership.

While talking to media post inauguration, he said that inauguration of a hospital and isolation facility is a welcoming step.

“I would request people to follow SOPs and be careful on Eid-ul-Azha, as their careless attitude resulted in spike in coronavirus cases followed by immense pressure on hospital,” he said.

PM further said that it is by the grace of Allah almighty that infection rate is going down in Pakistan. “We thought that the epidemic would go down by the end of July,” he added.

Earlier today, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Islamabad Isolation hospital and infectious treatment center today.

Taking to twitter, the federal minister wrote that the hospital was constructed in record 40 days.

“PM will inaugurate a specialized 250 bed infectious diseases hospital in Islamabad today. The hospital was built by NDMA in just 40 days to meet the needs due to the covid pandemic,” Asad Umar wrote.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 240,848 in Pakistan on Thursday, while the death toll stands at 4983.

According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 3,359 cases of coronavirus were reported while 61 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.

As many as 140,965 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
