LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has rejected the proposal to resign from the Punjab Assembly, deciding to contest the election for the slot of chief minister vigorously on July 22.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.

It was also decided that the PML-N would contact the PTI Nazriyati Group to seek their votes. PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif also participated in the meeting through the video link.

During the meeting, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah presented a report on the defeat of the party in the by-elections.

He said that the PML-N workers had not accepted the worker's dissidents from other parties. "The difficult decisions increased inflation in the country," he maintained.
