Pre-arrest bail plea: IHC directs forming medical board for Asif Zardari

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered forming a medical board to examine the health of former president Asif Ali Zardari who is seeking pre-arrest bail in suspicious transaction case.
According to details, the decision was taken following pre-arrest bail plea by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Zardari. The court ordered concerned authorities to constitute a medical board which would include medical superintendent (MS) of Ziauddin Hospital as a member.

The relevant authorities have been directed to submit Asif Zardari’s medical reports within two weeks, while accepting petitioner’s plea for his exemption of personal appearance in the hearing.
Zardari’s lawyer Farooq H Naek told court that former president is currently admitted to a hospital due to medical issues.
“He is suffering from cardiac, diabetes and chest issues. I request court to constitute a medical board again in the case,” he said.
The lawyer also submitted fresh medical reports of Zardari in the court.
The counsel of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said that they will not oppose the decision to constitute a medical board.
Justice Aamer Farooq said that the final decision will be taken after getting an opinion from the medical board and adjourned the hearing till January 28.
