Three-day Shandur polo festival begins in Chitral today

Chitral: Three-day Shandur polo festival is beginning in Chitral today.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, all necessary arrangements have been finalized for holding the festival in a benefitting manner.

The highest polo ground in the world (3,700 meters above sea level) will host the annual polo tournament to be organized with the collaboration of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

The teams of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chit­ral’s districts will participate in it under ‘freestyle rules’. Preparations have been finalized to organize Shandur Polo festival at the world’s highest polo ground on July 1 to 3.

GB Chief Minister Kha­lid Khur­shid Khan invited his Khyber Pakh­tu­nkhwa counterpart, Mah­mood Khan, to attend the festival on July 1 as the chief guest.

Polo teams from Gilgit- Baltistan and Chitral will participate in the festival.

A tent village has also been established to facilitate the foreign and local tourists.
