US Defense Secretary felicitates Army Chief Gen Asim Munir

WASHINGTON: The Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke by phone today with the new Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Gen. Asim Munir.

According to a press release by Pentagon, Secretary Austin congratulated Gen. Munir on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff and discussed areas of mutual interest as well as recent regional developments.

Taking to Twitter, Lloyd Austin said “the United States and Pakistan have a long-standing defense partnership and I look forward to working with General Munir.”
