WhatsApp is developing a noise cancellation feature to improve call quality.
Published On 10 Apr, 2026
The new feature will automatically reduce unnecessary background noise during a call, allowing sound to be heard more clearly and distinctly.
This facility is expected to prove particularly beneficial for those making calls in noisy environments such as traffic, crowds or strong winds. Users will be able to switch the feature on or off through a toggle within the call interface. It will initially be enabled by default, though users may disable it according to their preference.
Notably, the feature is designed not to enhance the incoming voice but to ensure that the user’s own voice reaches the other person with greater clarity. In effect, when activated, the person on the other end will hear the caller more clearly.
