9 News HD: Kohat Police Lines came under a deadly suicide attack on Friday, leaving at least 21 people dead and 103 others injured. The attack took place during Friday prayers at a mosque inside the old Police Lines compound in Kohat.

According to officials, an explosives-laden vehicle was used in the initial attack, followed by an assault by armed attackers who entered the Police Lines area. The explosions caused heavy damage to the mosque and nearby buildings, while several people were trapped or injured.

Officials said 15 police personnel and six civilians were among those killed. The injured included police officers and civilians, with several people receiving treatment at local hospitals. Some critically injured victims were also shifted to hospitals in Peshawar.

After the blasts, police and Counter-Terrorism Department personnel launched a clearance operation inside the compound. Seven armed attackers were reported to have entered the area, and security personnel engaged them in an exchange of fire. All seven attackers were killed during the operation.

Rescue teams reached the site soon after the incident and moved the injured to nearby hospitals. The Kohat-Hangu Road was also closed temporarily as security teams worked to clear and secure the area.

The attack has led to widespread concern in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while senior officials condemned the violence and directed authorities to ensure proper medical treatment for those injured.

Authorities are continuing to examine the attack and the security arrangements around the Police Lines. The incident has once again raised concerns about attacks targeting police personnel and civilians in the province.
