During a meeting with the panel, Naqvi assured the selectors that they have the board’s complete support while making decisions for the national team. He encouraged them to focus on merit and professionalism, stressing that the aim should be to strengthen Pakistan cricket.

The PCB chief also advised the committee to ignore criticism that lacks constructive purpose and remain committed to transparent decision-making.

The current selection panel includes former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, ex-skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, former Test batter Asad Shafiq and ex-fast bowler Aaqib Javed.

Committee members thanked Naqvi for expressing confidence in their work and appreciated the assurance of independence. They pledged to perform their responsibilities fairly and professionally while selecting the best players for the national side.

The move is seen as part of the PCB’s efforts to promote transparency and stability in the team selection process.
