9 News HD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made history by becoming the first Pakistani prime minister to open a trading session at the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

The prime minister opened the LSE trading session during his visit to London. He also formally inaugurated Pakistan’s $3 billion dual-tranche sovereign Eurobond at the event.

The ceremony was attended by London Stock Exchange Group CEO David Schwimmer, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and other Pakistani and British officials.

During his address, PM Shehbaz said Pakistan was working to strengthen its economy and attract more foreign investment. He also highlighted steps taken by the government to improve the country’s economic position.

The $3 billion Eurobond is Pakistan’s largest international bond transaction in a single deal. The issue attracted nearly $6 billion in orders from investors around the world, according to reports.

PM Shehbaz also said the LSE event was an important step in rebuilding Pakistan’s connection with international financial markets. He invited the LSE chief executive to visit Pakistan.

The visit and LSE ceremony mark an important development in Pakistan’s engagement with global financial markets and investment institutions.
